🎶 The Set That Traveled Time
The Castle Pub, landed in the Welsh‑Indian enclave of the Mississippi Delta,
became a vessel for history.
- They began in the Delta tradition:
raw slide guitar moaning like Robert Johnson at a crossroads,
harmonicas wailing like freight trains through cotton fields.
- The Bear Bard’s bass carried them into the Chicago era:
electric pulse, urban grit,
twin harmonicas duelling like Little Walter’s ghost.
- The Tiger’s tabla added a new beat,
folding Indian rhythm into the blues lineage,
echoing the migration of sound across oceans.
- The Rooster crowed into the mic,
his slide guitar bending into the revival spirit,
where Son House’s bottleneck laments echoed across time, and the pub itself became a chapter in the story.
However Aalok with his vocals, pulled the Castle Pub through a shimmering curtain and for a heartbeat we were on a Bollywood set— tabla rhythms became dance steps, harmonicas turned into tanpuras, Ashley Tragic enjoying the spectacle and rapping to the bollywood beat, before the scene dissolved and we returned to the delta, leaving only the echo of cinema in the air.
🌍 Reception in Blues Frequencies
The audience clapped.
Their applause carried the weight of tradition,
each beat a reminder of ancestry,
each solo a journey passed down through time.
The Castle Pub was no longer just a venue —
it was a museum of sound,
a ship sailing through the eras of blues.
🌀 Epilogue
When the last note of “You Gotta Move.” dissolved,
In an instant, the geography dissolved.
The Delta became memory,
The Castle Pub shifted instantly,
its bricks folding through time and space,
its pint glasses clinking back into gravity.
They were once again in Aldgate East,
but carrying within its walls
the echoes of Son House.
No one on the outside
would have guessed the journey,
but those inside knew:
the Mississippi was now a memory,
and Aldgate had become a crossroads.
